This family home designed by Assembly Architects sits lightly on the land. Primarily single level it has a sunken lounge that follows the natural topography of the site.

The floors and ceilings are made from exposed CLT panels with timber framing which gives this house impressive thermal performance. A variety of textures were combined to make this home feel warm and welcoming including timber, tiles, grooved panelling, pre-cast concrete panels and steel.

A louvered outdoor area is protected from the wind and an outdoor swimming pool is perfect for hot Central Otago summers.

This home was published in Home NZ Feb/March 2020, 'Modern Love' text by Anthony Byrt and was the 2020 Southern Architecture Awards Winner.
